Gig Book

Brief

For my final year product we were given free reign to create a brand new product for anything we wanted. We were to create a brand and at the end we were to have a fully working prototype showing our product and the features of it. Throughout this process we were asked to produce a product pitch, brand guidelines, and a launch strategy.

Idea

As I am a vivid gig goer I decided I wanted to create a product around music and attending concerts. I thought about what I would want and find useful throughout my gigging experiences as well as asking other people and this is where I decided to come up with the idea of Gig Book.

With research I saw that there was a gap in the market for anything to do with remembering and preserving your concert memories. With further research from other concert goers I realised that I could create a product where users can upload their own photographs from the night and include personalised notes from the concert.

Solution

The solution to the problem of preserving your concert memories is where Gig Book comes in. It is a digital app that acts like a scrapbook journal for users to upload their photographs, videos and be able to write personalised notes.

The users can simply search up their event they attended and from there they can select whether they want to design their scrapbook using a template or start completely from scratch with a blank page. By selecting their event they attended some information will be pre filled into their template for them. Things such as the artist, time, venue and date will be filled in.

Challenges Faced

Throughout the project there were some things that I struggled with or didn’t go to plan. The first one would be time management and trying to fit uni work in with my working and social life. I find that I struggle with motivation when working on uni work and get distracted quite easily. I am trying to workaround this by doing a bit of work everyday and squeezing some in when I have the time.

Another thing that is a weakness of mine is my confidence throughout the project, I find that I struggle with the vision of the project at times and think that the work that I have done isn’t good enough.

Final Design

I think that the final designs look professional and looks like something people will use. I wanted to create an easy user interface for the users and I think that I have achieved this.
